Loved this series! Had a wonderful ending that left me in tears。 Would love for the lady of the lake to have a book。

I would give this book 5 stars for that ending alone。 Thank goodness authors have started to fully realize that people want a satisfying conclusion to their favorite books and not a halfway done bittersweet ending。 But I'm going to be honest, while I was completely hooked on the first three books of this series I wasn't completely sold on the latter three。 A Crystal of Time was my favorite in this trilogy as it was the only one I didn't find myself skimming through。 I felt disconnected from this I would give this book 5 stars for that ending alone。 Thank goodness authors have started to fully realize that people want a satisfying conclusion to their favorite books and not a halfway done bittersweet ending。 But I'm going to be honest, while I was completely hooked on the first three books of this series I wasn't completely sold on the latter three。 A Crystal of Time was my favorite in this trilogy as it was the only one I didn't find myself skimming through。 I felt disconnected from this story but I don't know if it's because I'm not as invested in this story as I used to be or I just grew up。 The twists and turns felt a bit abrupt, like they came out of nowhere with no foreshadowing whatsoever。 In my mind, this story ended with the Last Ever After。 。。。more

The answer was literally that they tricked Excalibur a thing that shouldn't be possible! What makes me so annoyed with this is the question of their parentage has been in Since a Quests for Glory the characters have been repeating over and over again that Excalibur cannot be tricked or fooled so Rhian has to be Arthur's son since he did pull Excalibur from stone。 The big reveal to explain this away was that Rhian had a piece of Chaddick blood and tricked Excalibur into thinking he was the heir! The answer was literally that they tricked Excalibur a thing that shouldn't be possible! What makes me so annoyed with this is the question of their parentage has been in debate since Rhian pulled the sword。 He claimed to be Arthur's son but then who was his mother? At first it seemed like it was Lady Grisella Gremlaine which they heavily implied and then they did a one eighty in the blood crystal scene and was like wait it was almost her but no its Evelyn! Then we go around with evidence that they have to be Evelyn Saeder and Arthur's kids。 Then Japeth goes and kills Rhian in A Crystal of Time and then tells the gang that he isn't Arthur's son。 The whole conundrum of the Green Knight in this book was introduced because he goes by Japeth as well so how was we related to the snake? Was Japeth possibly his son but then he would only be Arthur's nephew through adoption and Rhian still had to be Arthur's son so were they not actually twins but half-brothers with the same mother。 Then plot twist! Rhian and Japeth are Rafal's sons! Remember the evil villain from the first three books well apparently he had kids and Japeth's first name is Rafal and I guess this explains why Rhian has the name of a guy who is centuries dead and why Sophie blood heals Japeth and why Rhian has to marry her since she was the true love of their dad? Yes that totally isn't creepy。 She is their dad's true love and now they need to use her as well and they made it seem like Rafal and Evelyn had this all set up but then why did they never reference any of this in the first three books? And I mean what makes this even more ridiculous is Tedros still isn't Arthur's first born! I mean neither is Rafal or Japeth but its Chaddick! Like remember that guy who was in Quests of Glory for 2 seconds? Well he was Arthur's first born with Grisella Gremlaine because that is somehow still possible even after we ruled her out of being Rhian and Japeth's mom, like come on! Really? This was the best plot you could come up with? Do you see how ridiculous it sounds once I put it all together? What was I even reading these last couple books? Now from the very beginning in The School for Good and Evil I've liked Hort and I never thought it would really go any where but I liked him and his character。 That's why in A Crystal of Time when they hint that Sophie might be getting feelings for Hort I was really excited。 I think they have some great moments and development but overall I don't think enough time was put into their relationship for this subplot。 And we never actually get to see the two of them together。 Hort comes back from Sophie thinking him dead, the confess their feelings to each other, kiss, then five seconds later Merlin dies and the book is over。 Now all the other books the end comes suddenly and we don't always get to see where the characters end up but come on this was the last books in the series! And then it just ended! We didn't actually get to see Tedros and Agatha's wedding - just the prep for it! I was so excited to get a scene of Hort and Sophie actually being together because their plot line would only be there for like a scene every five chapters before it was dropped and forgotten about again。 I just wanted to see more! This actually leads into my next complaint - the side characters。 Other than the coven of Hester, Anadail and Dot all the other side characters would just drop of the map and than resurface chapters later when they run into the main characters again and they dropped out of the plot so poorly they would need to spend a paragraph explaining what they had been up to。 Like Bodgen and William were sent to Camelot in A Crystal in Time by Reaper to get information from a priest and to be honest the second they left the room I forgot they existed。 Same thing with all the side characters who were at Shazabah。 All the gang was together but then Tedros, Agatha, Sophie, and Merlin get separated when they go into Japeth's mind space and then when they are back at the School for Good and Evil Beatrix has to go and explain what happened to everyone else they just left there in the middle of danger while they were whisked off elsewhere。All this being said I still liked this book。 It did give me a newfound appreciation to how good the first book was in comparison but I am still glad I read this one。 It was still a good book and I really did enjoy it, I just think it could have done a lot of things so much better with a little extra work to bring it togeter。 。。。more

I cannot believe it's over, can't believe I finished。 It's been five years of reading this series and I had an amazing time。This ending was just as complex, twisted, and horrifying as you would expect。 I gasped, I cried, I laughed。 It was such a good way to end this series and leave these characters we've grown so much with。 I cannot believe it's over, can't believe I finished。 It's been five years of reading this series and I had an amazing time。This ending was just as complex, twisted, and horrifying as you would expect。 I gasped, I cried, I laughed。 It was such a good way to end this series and leave these characters we've grown so much with。 。。。more

I'm so sad this series has now come to an end! It was a wild ride and all the books are pretty much jam-packed with action and revelations and plot twists, but this one especially。 It sometimes did feel as if the author hadn't really thought out some stuff and just came up with things while writing in order to kind of interweave all the characters' stories (if that makes any sense)。 The way the characters were all connected was really clever, but it just felt a bit rushed and random at times, I I'm so sad this series has now come to an end! First of all, the above quotes from the non-spoiler section are revealing enough。 Tedros is an idiot and it's never addressed just how much of an idiot he is。 He's marrying Agatha, but the Agatha he seems to want isn't Agatha at all。 Second of all, Agatha's "character development"。 I hate hate hate hate hated it。 Plans get messed up, and it's all Agatha's fault because she keeps getting in Tedros' way and not sitting to the side like the pretty princess she's supposed to be。 I beg your pardon Mr。 Author, but I absolutely hated that。 The moral of the story is that Agatha has to learn her place? Which is behind Tedros? Nope, nope nope, no thank you。And can I just set that one town where they had the girl/boy divisions on fire please? Thanks。 Also Japeth says girls have a special stink。 Thank you Japeth, you stink too because you're a rotten, 2d villian <3 2。) Bland characters!Tedros has and always will be an annoying cardboard cutout, but I do believe that sometime after the 3rd book he absorbed Agatha's spunk and disposed of it。 Agatha was bland, Tedros was bland, most of the random side characters were bland。 Mostly Agatha though, she's almost as boring as Tedros now a days。 3。) Convenient plotSeriously, Anadil's rats can build a boat? And Tedros is magically able to survive being beheaded? (My theory is that there wasn't anything important up there in the first place) Anyone who happens have a bit of Chadick's blood on them can lift Excalibur? Lame lame lame。 4。) HortI used to kind of like Hort, but now he falls under the "characters I hope will die" category。 He's annoying, and he and Nicola's relationship was so unnecessary。 She was basically just a way to get over Sophie, except he never actually gets over Sophie。 Nicola's then discarded and set aside once they break up, to the point where the book had me wondering if she died without me noticing or something。 And then Hort and Sophie get together。Seriously。After a whole series of Hort being obsessed with her and her not liking her, suddenly he's her true love? NOStay dead next time, Hort。 5。) Everyone dyingI lost track of all the characters that died。 Robin, Tink, Merlin, the kid with the lollipop, they all died too quickly for me to even remember their deaths, let alone mourn them。 Lollipop kid was also definitly introduced solely for the purpose of dying, which is lame。 Also, adults just can't stay alive in this book, can they? Dovey, Lesso, Lance, Robin, Guinevere, Merlin, Tink, the Sheriff, the random Dean lady who fell off the cloud。。。。6。) Too many plot twistsI really do not care who anyone's parents are anymore。 Japeth is Arthur's sonJapeth is also Lady Gremlain's sonJapeth is actually Sader's son with ArthurWait, Japeth isn't actually Arthur's son?Japeth is the Green Knight's son??Noo, OMG, Japeth is RAFAL'S son :O (wow, this might be exciting if I hadn't already been seeing this coming since Rhian #2's name showed up。)Chaddick is the actual son of Arthur and GremlainJapeth isn't related to Arthur, but is physically in possession of Chaddick's blood so same difference 7。) lack of shirtsis there a particular reason why the guys in these books are incapable of wearing shirts? It seems like half the time Tedros/Hort/Sophie's endless evil love interests show up, they find a way to dispose of their shirts。 For instance, Agatha waked up from wrecking everything, and when she's getting shamed for not being a pretty princess Hort and Tedros are just casually sitting around shirtless。I'm tempted to reread all the books just to find all the times that they lose their shirts and see how ridiculous the number is。 It's not attractive or whatever its supposed to be, its just weird :\ wear your shirts people(hide spoiler)] 。。。more

Ultimately, it came down to both Good and Evil working together to accomplish a common goal。 I found that really cool because if you look back to the beginning of the series there is such a clear divide between Good and Evil。 However, this book showed that, yes, they have their differences, but when they work together incredible things can happen。 And there was so much happening。。。I couldn't even keep track of how many crazy plot twists were thrown in to the mix! Every time I thought I'd got a good grasp on what was happening the story turned in a completely different direction。 But even with all of the surprises, it blew my mind how neatly everything came together in the end! Every question that I thought of was answered in the end and this was a book that left me satisfied and at ease because I wasn't burning to know more。 My favorite part of this book was: (view spoiler)[the conclusion of the second test, which said that Agatha must be killed。 Agatha, Tedros, Japeth and Guinevere were all disguised as Agatha's and the test was completed when Tedros and Japeth both killed Guinevere thinking it was the real Agatha and in doing so finished the test。 It was sad, but I was just so in awe of the cleverness of it! (hide spoiler)]I loved the different dynamics between all of the the characters and how each one had their own way of interacting with another but the way they did it was constant throughout the story。 This is so hard to do but the author did an amazing job。 Every one of the characters has come so far and it was so fun to see where they ended up and watch each one of them find where they belong。I cannot wait to re-read the first three books in this series because I've forgotten so much and am dying to remember Evelyn Sader, Aric's and Rafal's stories。 The last thing I want to say about this book is how stunning the cover is! Every time I looked at it I spotted something new and I had fun picking out lots of little things that tied in with the story。 Finally a huge thank you to Soman Chainani。 Your books never fail to put a smile on my face and nothing could have stopped the tears from coming there at the end! I recommend this series to all readers and hope that you enjoy it as much as I do。 Happy Reading :)Grab your own copy of this book here ⤵️https://blackwells。co。uk/bookshop/pro。。。 。。。more

I know I use hyperbole a lot in my reviews, but I am not kidding when I said that I literally started crying after I finished this book。 It wasn't because the ending was sad, but it was a cathartic cry。 I've been invested in this world for five years and the story closed for the final time last night at midnight (and hopefully this time it stays closed)。 There are just so many things in my brain that I'm just going to spew numbered bullet points (most of which will probably be marked with a spoi I know I use hyperbole a lot in my reviews, but I am not kidding when I said that I literally started crying after I finished this book。 It wasn't because the ending was sad, but it was a cathartic cry。 I've been invested in this world for five years and the story closed for the final time last night at midnight (and hopefully this time it stays closed)。 There are just so many things in my brain that I'm just going to spew numbered bullet points (most of which will probably be marked with a spoiler tag)。1。 Tedros finally got his act togetherAll during QfG and CoT, I was like, "Why are they trying so hard to get Tedros on the throne (other than the fact that he's not an evil twin)? He's not shown himself to be a good leader。" Well, folks, in this book, Tedros finally gets his act together and becomes a good leader。 He takes initiative and plans instead of just complaining about how Agatha keeps usurping his quests (admittedly, one major event in the book prompts this change in Tedros)。 He finally proves that he can lead。2。 AgathaI've always had a love-hate relationship with Agatha。 On one hand, she is Good and kind, but on the other, her friends are right when they say that Agatha always takes over a plan because she believes she's the only one who can do it right。 Agatha in this book was alright (I still don't understand why that whole thing in the tree had to happen), but I like how her story ended。 3。 The Witch is BackEvil Sophie makes a comeback in this book, and I am here for it。 I (kinda) liked that thing at the beginning with Japeth controlling her via scims。 I feel like this book was the one that we see Sophie and her love life the most honestly。 In the previous books she's always putting up a facade or acting like she is happy with where she is, but in this one she has an honest dialogue with Agatha and a monologue about it and I appreciated that。 4。 Nicola and Hort(view spoiler)[I'm glad they broke up。 (hide spoiler)]5。 (view spoiler)[Sophie and Hort (hide spoiler)](view spoiler)[I have been shipping these two for five years。 FIVE YEARS。 While I was saddened at the end of TLEA that they never got together, I appreciated Sophie's "I don't need a man" attitude。 So in this book, when they FINALLY confess to each other, I was smiling like an idiot。 So imagine my absolute shock and horror when Hort dies immediately after。 I'm like, "This isn't really。 He isn't really dead, the author wouldn't do that to us。" I kept the hope that Hort was still alive by some deus ex machina, but another part of me didn't believe it (I learned my lesson in having hope after Newt)。 I was actually devastated。 AND THEN, when it turns out Hort DIDN'T die and he and Sophie get REUNITED, I was so relieved and so happy。 It's always a marvelous thing when the characters you've shipped for 5 years become cannon。 (hide spoiler)]6。 MerlinEven though his subplot complicated things, I loved it。 I actually laughed out loud at one point, when Hort says something to Agatha and Tedros like, "Aren't you supposed to wait until you're married before having kids?"7。 The CovenThese three girls are absolutely amazing and I'd love to befriend them, but I don't think I'm tough enough to be friends with them。8。 Are we sure this is a MG book? For being a MG series, there's a lot of shirtless boys and innuendo。 It's not explicit or anything, but I feel like because of that the series would be better as YA rather than MG。 9。 Body CountCan we take a moment to think about how many people die throughout this series? Agatha says something like, "Adults always get killed in her story" and sooo many people die (from the two trilogies combined)。 (view spoiler)[ I don't think there's a single adult from the first trilogy who's still alive by the end of OTK (not including secondary adults like Manley or Uma)。 That's a lot of people。 (hide spoiler)]Okay, I think that's all for now。 I hope this is the real ending this time and there's no surprise sequel trilogy again。 。。。more
